About KGRL COLLEGE

K.G.R.L. College is located in Bhimavaram, a place hailed as ‘Second Bardoli’ by Mahatma Gandhi, a place where several thousands of Freedom fighters participated in the ‘Salt Satyagraha’ launched by Mahatma in the year 1930. The College enjoys a unique setting in the green fields. Its calm and serene atmosphere inspires the light of knowledge. It occupies a sprawling campus of 18 acres dotted with more than 25 buildings.

The Bhimavaram Education Society was founded in July 1975 to expand educational opportunities for the people of Bhimavaram and its surrounding areas by establishing various educational institutions. Responding to the aspirations of the community and the dedication of the Society, Sri Kotikalapudi Govinda Rao generously contributed a significant donation for the establishment of K.G.R.L. Degree College.

Recognized for its outstanding academic excellence since inception, the college was granted autonomy by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, in 2007, with Andhra University awarding permanent affiliation that same year. This autonomy provides the college with the academic freedom to introduce new courses.

Indian higher education institutions are transitioning from the traditional annual system to a semester system. Currently, the UGC has introduced the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), offering a "cafeteria-style" approach where students can select courses of their choice, learn at their own pace, take additional courses to earn extra credits, and embrace an interdisciplinary learning approach. It is recommended that HEIs adopt CBCS and implement a grading system to enhance academic flexibility and student-centered learning.

In 2016, our college was chosen as a partnering institution (PI) with the esteemed Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNYD), located in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, to offer a one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Youth Development (PGDYD). Additionally, the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) has established two employability skill centers on our campus for both UG and PG students.

We would like to share our hopes and expectations with everyone. The management and staff are committed to enriching the institution academically by providing excellent infrastructure and a supportive, inspiring learning environment. To this end, we have introduced new courses that span various disciplines, including Humanities, Science, and Management. As a result, the student enrollment has also increased. Our hope, aim, and goal are to deliver value-oriented, high-quality education to our students, ensuring a bright future for each individual and contributing positively to the nation as a whole.
